Cooking instructions

Instructions for 2 [for 3] [for 4] portion recipe.

1

Before you begin...

This recipe takes around 5-10 min to prep, so get your casserole dish and all your ingredients ready, then wash your fruit and veg

Note: Make sure your dish is oven-proof and safe to use on the hob. Don't have one? Start cooking in a large, wide-based pan then transfer to an oven-proof dish and cover tightly with foil

Step 1
2

Preheat the oven to 220°C/ 200°C (fan)/ gas 7 and boil a kettle

Heat a hob-safe oven-proof casserole dish with a drizzle of vegetable oil over a medium-high heat

Once hot, add your Fable pulled mushrooms to the dish and cook for 1-2 min or until the mushrooms are lightly browned, breaking them up with a wooden spoon as you go

Step 2
3

Cut your potato[es] in half

Add the halved potatoes to a heatproof bowl and cover with cling film, then pierce a few holes in the top with a fork

Put the bowl in the microwave for 4 min or until slightly softened

Add the softened potatoes to a baking tray (or two!) with a drizzle of vegetable oil and put the tray[s] in the oven for 25-30 min or until golden and crisp

Step 3
4

Meanwhile, peel and finely slice (don't chop!) your garlic

Top, tail and chop your carrot[s] roughly (no need to peel!)

Step 4
5

Once the Fable pulled mushrooms are browned, add the sliced garlic and chopped carrot to the pot with 1 tbsp [1/2 tbsp] [2 tbsp] flour and your tomato paste and cook for 1 min or until fragrant

Step 5
6

Once fragrant, add your stout paste, Marmite, gravy base and bay leaf[ves] to the pot with 350ml [460ml] [600ml] boiled water and bring to the boil over a high heat

Cover with the lid and put the dish in the oven for 25-30 min or until the sauce has thickened – this is your oven baked Fable mushroom & stout casserole

Step 6
7

Once the casserole has had about 15 min, trim your green beans and add to a large piece of tin foil (or two!) with a splash of cold water, a pinch of pepper and a knob of butter and scrunch the foil around the green beans to form a tightly sealed parcel[s], then remove the tray[s] from the oven and add the foil parcel[s] to the other side of the baking tray[s]

Firmly crush the potatoes with a spatula, add a knob of butter and a pinch of pepper and mix it all together, then return the tray[s] to the oven and cook for a final 10-12 min or until the green beans are tender and the potatoes are golden and tender

Step 7
8

Serve the oven baked Fable mushroom & stout casserole with the green beans and crushed buttery potatoes to the side
