Slow Cooker Sesame Hoisin Chicken With Rice
Craving a comforting Chinese that saves on washing up? Then cook up our sweet sesame hoisin chicken with green pepper and spinach. Serve over rice.

Before you begin...
This recipe takes around 5-10 min to prep, so get your slow cooker and all your ingredients ready, then wash your fruit and veg
Take your chicken out of the fridge, open the packet and let it air

Boil half a kettle
Turn on your slow cooker to high

Add your diced chicken thigh, toasted sesame oil, hoisin sauce, garlic & ginger paste, chicken stock mix and 2 tsp [3 tsp] [4 tsp] flour to the dish and give everything a good mix up
Add your gluten free soy sauce, Chinese rice wine, 2 tsp [3 tsp] [4 tsp] sugar and 80ml [105ml] [120ml] boiled water and cook for an initial 2 hours

Meanwhile, deseed your pepper[s] (scrape the seeds and pith out with a teaspoon) and cut into bite-size pieces
Wash your spinach

After an initial 2 hours, add the chopped pepper with a pinch of salt to the dish and cook for a final hour – this is your slow cooker sesame hoisin chicken

When the sesame hoisin chicken is almost ready, squeeze your pouch[es] of cooked white long grain rice to separate the grains
Tear the top corner of the pouch[es] (just a little!) and microwave for 2 min or until piping hot
Tip: If you're cooking two pouches, pop them in together but increase the microwave cook time accordingly

When the hoisin chicken is ready (no pink meat!) , stir through your spinach until wilted

Serve the slow cooker sesame hoisin chicken with the cooked rice to the side
