'Naked' Turkey Burger With Sweet Potato Wedges

Want a burger sans the bun? Then these turkey patties are a healthy winner. You'll serve them 'naked', flavoured with garlic, oregano and a dollop of tangy garlic aioli. Add sweet potato wedges on the side, and dive into deliciousness.

Ingredients for 2 people

30ml mayonnaise

Cooking instructions

Instructions for 2 [for 4] portion recipe.

Preheat the oven to 200°C/ 180°C (fan)/ gas 6

Chop the sweet potatoes into wedges

Add the sweet potato wedges to a tray with a drizzle of vegetable oil and a pinch of salt and give it a good mix up

Put the tray in the oven for an initial 12-15 min or until starting to soften

While the wedges are cooking, peel and slice a few rounds off the red onion[s]

Grate the remaining red onion

Peel and grate (or finely chop) the garlic

Add the turkey mince, panko breadcrumbs, grated onion, dried oregano and half the grated garlic (you'll use the rest later!) to a large bowl with a generous pinch of salt and pepper

Mix thoroughly until fully combined (clean hands are the best way!) – this is your herby turkey mixture

Shape the herby turkey mixture into 2 [4] burger patties – these are your turkey burgers

Once the wedges have started to soften, add the turkey burgers to the tray

Tip: Cooking for 4? Use a separate tray!

Put the tray[s] in the oven for a further 12-14 min or until everything is cooked through (no pink meat!)

Meanwhile, combine the mayo with the remaining grated garlic (don't like raw garlic? Go easy!) and the white wine vinegar in a small bowl

Add a pinch of salt and give it a good mix up – this is your aioli

Wash the gem lettuce, then pat it dry with kitchen paper and shred

Serve the turkey burger topped with a dollop of aioli and the onion rounds with the sweet potato wedges and shredded lettuce to the side

Drizzle the remaining aioli over the shredded lettuce
